Levels of preparations
1. Russian for Beginners
For persons with no previous knowledge of Russian (taught in English, German, French): pronunciation, lexical minimum of 500-1000 words, basic grammar, understanding of simple texts (oral and written), simple dialogues and monologues on everyday themes, conversational formulas.
Duration: 3-6 months (22-25 hours per week)
2. Russian Main Course (Elementary level)
For persons with a minimal level of competence: correction of pronunciation and grammar, improving of listening and speaking skills.
Duration: 6 months (22-25 hours per week)
3. Russian Main Course (Advanced I)
For persons with a good practical knowledge of Russian: of reading skills improvement (reading and understanding of unaccepted texts, including belletristic), producing different types of written texts, mastering the normal tempo of Russian speech, free participation in discussions, monologues on different social and cultural themes (Russian idioms). Understanding of radio and TV programs, films.
Duration: 9-12 months (22-25 hours per week)
4. Russian Main Course (Advanced II)
For persons with proficient Russian: improving of special aspects or styles of Russian (Russian for scientists, Business Russian etc.). Learning of modern and classic Russian literature.
Duration: 9-12 months (22-25 per week)
5. Russian for Philologist and Teacher-Training courses
Renewal and correction of theoretical knowledge on Russian grammar and lexicon. New methods of teaching Russian. Transaction. Analysis of literary texts. Russian literature. Culturology.
Duration: 3 months (22-25 per week)
6. Individual training
The professional experience of our teachers enables us to provide any type of individual programs according to your level and interests.
Usually teaching takes place in groups of 6-8 students. Groups are formed according to the level of students, which is determined by testing. Individual teaching is always possible. Special emphasis is placed on improving listening comprehension and speaking skills through both class-time and the listening center. Emphasis is also placed on correcting pronunciation and intonation. Students are provided with packages of written exercises to enlarge their active vocabulary and grammar, feature films, TV news and documentaries are available on video, word-processing and language programs in computer labs.
Cost: 5 USD per 1 hour for training in group and 8 USD per 1 hour for individual training
Russian language testing center
State testing in Russian for foreign citizens has been put into effect in the Russian Federation. Testing is carried out within the framework of the common state testing system under the Ministry of Education.
The only Russian testing center for foreign citizens in Novosibirsk is located at Novosibirsk State Technical University.
A special Certificate is issued for tests at all levels and for all persons who have passed tests. The Certificate is a state document and has no validity terms, but is equally valid in Russia for Russian organizations and foreign institutions.
There are 5 levels, defining levels of the command of Russian as a foreign language.
Basic level
Obtaining a positive grade at this level testifies to a beginners level of communication competence which enables the applicant to satisfy basic communication needs in a limited number of everyday life and cultural situations.
Certification level-1
Obtaining a positive grade at this level testifies to an intermediate level of communication competence which enables the applicant to satisfy his cultural, educational and professional communication needs in compliance with the federal standards of RAF (Russian as Foreign Language).
The above Certificate is required for admission to higher education institutions in Russia.
Certification level-2
Obtaining a positive grade at this level testifies to an upper-intermediate level of communication competence, which enables the applicant to satisfy his/her communication needs in all spheres of communication and to carry out professional activity in Russia as a specialist of appropriate qualifications: humanitarian, engineering, natural scientific etc.
The above Certificate is required for obtaining a Bachelor's or Master's diploma from Russian Higher Educational Institutions (except for Bachelor's or Master's degree in Philology)
Certification level-3
Obtaining a positive grade at this level testifies to an advanced level of communication competence, which enables the applicant to satisfy his/her communication needs in all spheres of communication in Russia.
The above Certificate is required for obtaining the Bachelor's diploma in Philology from Russian Higher Educational Institutions.
Certification level-4
Obtaining a positive grade at this level testifies to the fluent level of communication competence, similar to a native speaker's language.
The above Certificate is required for obtaining a Master's degree in Philology from a Russian Higher Educational Institution, and enables the applicant for all kinds of teaching, scientific and research activity in the sphere of the Russian language.
What is required for taking a Russian language test?
To take a test one should get a permit from the International Service of NSTU and register in the Testing Center no later than 2 days before testing.

Summer courses for learning Russian
Summer Program for studying Russian at Novosibirsk State Technical University
Choose four week courses in June-August in the city of Novosibirsk
General information
Russian summer courses at Novosibirsk State Technical University are offered June - August
Teaching takes place in groups of 10; groups are formed according to the level of students which is determined by testing (Beginner, Elementary, Advanced). Special emphasis is placed on improving listening comprehension and speaking skills through both class-time and time at the listening center. Emphasis is also placed on correcting pronunciation and intonation. Students are provided with packages of written exercises to enlarge their active vocabulary and grammar. Feature films, TV news and documentaries are available on video, and word-processing and language programs are also available in computer labs.
Courses last 4 weeks. Russian language instruction is conducted five days a week, 4 academic hours a day. An extensive social and recreational program is offered for afternoons: acquaintance with the Russian culture, folklore, applied arts, and classical music, as well as excursions to galleries and theatres.

The teachers at the summer courses are staff of the Russian language Department at Novosibirsk State Technical University. They are university graduates with academic degrees in Russian philology and with knowledge of English, German and French at a beginner's level. The Russian language Department has many years of experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language.
Students of summer courses are provided with accommodations in double rooms at the university hotel. Accommodation costs are NOT included in the course costs.
Social and recreational program
We invite all students to continue practicing Russian and to learn about our city and our country after classes. We offer the following excursions and other activities for 4 weeks.
